Aqueous carbon black dispersions stabilized by sodium lignosulfonates

چکیده
Abstract Six different sodium lignosulfonates with varying degrees of sulfonation (0.14–1.29 sulfonate groups per phenylpropane unit) and molecular weights ( M w = 6000–330,000 g/mol) were evaluated for their ability to disperse carbon black in aqueous media. Rheological particle size measurements dispersions indicated that low degree function as good dispersants. The dispersion efficiency did not correspond directly the amount lignosulfonate adsorbed on surface black. have an enhance colloidal stability by electrostatic repulsion, likely mechanism stabilization is a combination repulsion steric hindrance. Aqueous Dispersions of Silica Stabilized with Oleic Acid Obtained by Green Chemistry
The present study describes for the first time the synthesis of silica nanoparticles starting from sodium silicate and oleic acid (OLA). The interactions between OLA and sodium silicate require an optimal OLA/OLANa molar ratio able to generate vesicles that can stabilize silica particles obtained by the sol-gel process of sodium silicate. The optimal molar ratio of OLA/OLANa can be ensured by a...
متن کاملNematic droplets in aqueous dispersions of carbon nanotubes.
Aqueous dispersions of exfoliated, bile-salt stabilized single-wall carbon nanotubes exhibit a first order transition to a nematic liquid-crystalline phase. The nematic phase presents itself in the form of micron-sized nematic droplets also known as tactoids, freely floating in the isotropic host dispersion. The nematic droplets are spindle shaped and have an aspect ratio of about four, irrespe...
متن کاملLight-controlled single-walled carbon nanotube dispersions in aqueous solution.
We have succeeded in dispersing single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) into an aqueous solution of poly(ethylene glycol)-terminated malachite green derivative (PEG-MG) through simple sonication. It was found that UV exposure caused reaggregation of these predispersed SWNTs in the same aqueous medium, as adsorbed PEG-MG photochromic chains could be effectively photocleavaged from the nanotube su...
متن کاملAqueous Polyalkyne Dispersions
INTRODUCTION The discovery of the conductive properties of conjugated organic polymers in the late 1970s initiated intense investigations of their synthesis, chemistry and physical properties. Today, they are widely studied for various applications, e.g. optoelectronics in displays or organic solar cells. Beyond general academic curiosity towards the generation and properties of unusual nanostr...
متن کاملStructure of Polymeric Nanoparticles in Surfactant-Stabilized Aqueous Dispersions of High-Molar-Mass Hydrophobic Graft Polymers
Aqueous dispersions of hydrophobic high-molar-mass cellulose-graft-polystyrene (Cel-g-PS) copolymers were prepared by nanoprecipitation from dioxane solutions using sodium dodecyl sulfate as a stabilizer. The size and structure of formed Cel-g-PS nanoparticles were studied by scattering techniques (static and dynamic light scattering, SAXS) and transmission electron microscopy. The scattering a...
